Lucy and Ben reach ‘world standard’ at World Skills finals in France

Apprentices Lucy Yelland and Ben Love have been rewarded at the World Skills finals in Lyon for their competencies in mechatronics.
The pair, who work at Siemens UK and train at Tameside College, were recognised with Medallions for Excellence, which are awarded to those competitors who reach 700 points or world standard.
WorldSkills UK is a four nations partnership between education, industry and UK governments. It is a world-class skills network acting as a catalyst for raising standards through international benchmarking and professional development, championing future skills through analysis of rapidly changing economic demand and empowering young people from all backgrounds through competitions-based training and careers advocacy.
Jackie Moores, principal and CEO said: “Lucy and Ben continue to represent Tameside College to the highest of standards. The World Skills finals are extremely competitive and they have been recognised by the judges as reaching an impressive world standard. We are incredibly proud of their performance and look forward to welcoming them back to college with their latest award.”

Tameside College will be hosting the World Skills national finals, week commencing Monday 18th November 2024.
